Guilderland Boys Open Season With a Whooping (9/10)
The Dutchmen placed 11 inside the top 20 at the Castleton State Cross Country Invy to win their first meet of the season.  Roland Graves was third overall.

Guilderland Invy Results IN! (9/15)
The 37th Annual Invitational is in the books...Roland Graves wins with fastest time on the day, Varsity Boys 2nd to Burnt Hills.  Lynley Joynt and Erin Mossop lead a fine Girls pack to finish 3rd behind powerhouse Burnt Hills and Colonie.  JV Girls win.  Frosh Dutch sweep races behind Andrew Coy (1st) and Lea Cure (3rd).  Icabod Crane wins Boys Small School Race, Broadalbin Perth wins Girls Small School race.

Boys & Girls Grace NYS Rankings (9/16)
The Boys are listed as 8th on the Class AA list and our Girls are 18th.

Girls Roll, Boys Split in Dual #2 (9/20)
The Girls XC team defeated Columbia and Shaker in dual action this week.  The Boys slid to 2-2 after a tough loss to Shaker.  The team will have this weekend off.
Graves Previews State Meet Course (9/22)
Senior Roland Graves got a chance to see the NYS Meet course at Norwood-Norfolk HS by running the Section 10 Invitational as an individual.  He was 5th overall in the Varsity I race.

Boys Finish 3rd @ Queensbury Invite (9/29)
Boys finish 3rd behind Graves 7th place finish.  Girls finish 10th.  Both teams are now 4-3 after three-way dual this week.  Boys dropped to Nisky; Girls to Colonie and Saratoga.

Girls Win Grout Behind Middle School-Power! (10/6)
The Lady Dutch won Division I at the Grout Run in Schenectady, thanks in part to a 3-4-5-6 finish.  Eighth grader Lea Cure (pictured) led the way, followed by Jen Madsen, Lynley Joynt, and fellow MS'er Anna Pickett.  The Boys were off, as they participated in the
Race for the Cure 5k in Albany.  Up next is Manhattan!

Guilderland Dominates Meet #4 (1/9)
Girls sweep 1000m, all three relays and  take top five spots in 3000 to win.  Sheehan runs away to take the 3200m run.  Nice double from senior David Slingerland (300/600).

Ladies take both 4x200m and 4x400m Relays, Shot Put, and 300m.  Karley Giles double-winner in LJ & TJ.  Roland Graves 2nd in the 1000m.

Alumni Shine at D-3 NCAA State Meet (3/4)
Cortland State Sophomores Justin Wager and Seth Dubois (both '06) are having another terrific indoor season.  Wager won the 800m run at the NYS D-3 Championships at St. Lawrence with a provisional NCAA qualifying time of 1:53.21.  Wager already has a qualifying time in the Mile run after running 4:09 previously this season!  Dubois won the 3000m in 8:29 at the same meet.  Alfred's Justin Pariett ('04) was 5th in the 1000m at the same meet. Itacha's Amanda Boccio ('06) was 5th in the 5k in 19:02.

Schwennker, Sheehan Among Highlights @ Dartmouth Relays (1/13)
Liz Schwennker was 8th overall in the 400m run and Kevin Sheehan ran a decent Two-mile in the 39th running of the NH invitational.

Girls 4x400 Blaze Yale Field (1/22)
The Girls 4x400m Relay team took 6th place at the Yale Invitational in a time of 4:12.20, the 2nd fastest time of the year by a Section 2 team! Still waiting to hear if this is a school record.
On the boys side, Graves and Sheehan represented well at 3000m, running 9:07 and 9:12 respectively.

Chen Comes up Big @ Suburban Indoor Champs (1/27)
We've been excited about him ever since he burst onto the scene last winter.  Senior Yifan Chen was 2nd in the 55m Dash (6.90) and 4th in the TJ (41-9.25).  Boys take an 8th place performance.   On the Girls side, 4x200m Relay takes 2nd (1:53.71) and Karley Giles takes 4th in the High Jump to take a 7th place team finish.  Engineer Games @ RPI is set for Sunday, 2/3.

BRD Debuts @ Razorback Invite (1/27)
Texas frosh Brian Rhodes-Devey
debuted in his first individual collegiate event, running 1:58.81 in the 800m at a meet in Arkansas.  BRD will return to NYC on Feb. 9th for the New Balance Games.
Indoor Squads Finish 5th @ Sectionals (2/18)
The Lady Dutch 4x200 and 4x400m relays both finished 2nd, and Karley Giles was a runner-up in the HJ on a day filled with upsets.  The Boys were lead by a strong 4-5 finish in the 3200m run (Graves & Sheehan, respectively).  Yifan Chen was 4th in the TJ.

Dutchmen Represent at State Qualifiers (3/4)
Liz Schwennker will be the lone representative heading to Cornell for the State Meet.  The senior was third in the 300m run, earning a spot on the Intersectional Relay team.  Roland Graves and Kevin Sheehan represent well in the 3200m run.

Cortland Sophomore wins 800/1500m double!!  Dubois 5th in 10k, Dragons prevail.

Boys Win Ballston Spa Lions Invitational (4/17)
Lady Dutch finish 4th/17 teams.  Liz Schwennker 2nd in both 200 and 400m.  Girls 4x8 Wins in 10:11.
Boys impress in opening invitational thanks in large part to the distance squad!  Vassat wins 800m in 2:02, Roland smokes the 1600m in 4:21,and Sheehan is 2nd in the 3200 (10:07).  New names to remember include Freshmen Dashawn Gates (2nd in the 400m--53.7) and Michael Heiserman (2nd in the 200m--23.1).

Lady Dutch Show Off Depth @ Schenectady Invite (5/2)
Delbene's 2nd place in the Discus lead six other top three finishers in the Electric City meet.  The Girls finish 3rd out of 17 teams.  On the boys side, Goodknight takes 2nd in the Pole Vault, team is 5th.

Haggerty ('03) Wins NE Steeplechase Crown! (5/12)
Southern Conn. State Univ. Senior Dan Haggerty won the prestigeous New England Intercollegiate Championship in 9:19.04.  The Owls were the top D-2 team in the meet (5th/37 scoring teams).

Senior Liz Schwennker ran a 2:16.38 to place 4th at the William F. Eddy Meet.  Boys 4x200m breaks 19 year old school mark to place 2nd (1:32.46)!

Senior Roland Graves punctuated his scholastic career winning the 3200m run at the Suburban Council Championships.  Mike Edmonds wins the Pentathlon.  For the ladies, Karlie Giles is 2nd in the HJ.

Wager & Dubois Earn All-American Status! (5/29)
Cortland sophomore Justin Wager ('06) placed 6th in the Men's 1500m in 3:50.74!!!  Classmate Seth DuBois ('06) finished 7th in the 10k.  The Red Dragons were 2nd overall!  Congrats Men!
NCAA D-3 Championship Results
Lady Dutch Delight! (5/29)
The Guilderland Girls Track team brought home three sectional titles, including the 4x400m Relay (pictured left).  Karley Giles won the HJ and Briana Delbene took Discus to highlight what has to be one of the programs best finishes EVER (4th overall).  Congratulations Ladies!

Schwennker, Delbene Heading to NYS Championships! (6/9)
Senior Liz Schwennker and Junior Briana Delbene won their respective events at State Quals in Jonhstown and will be representing Guilderland at the NYS Meet in Buffalo this weekend.  Both athletes posted season bests with Schwennker running a 58.87 for 400m and Delbene throwing 116 ft in the Disc.  Senior Roland Graves missed qualifying in the 3200m with a commendable effort (9:35.06).  Semifinal heats will begin Friday afternoon at UBuffalo.  Good luck Ladies!!!

Lady Dutch Represent @ NYS Meet (6/18)
Liz Schwennker ended a spectacular career at the NYSPHSAA Champsionships in Buffalo by placing 11th in the 400m run (58.37).  She is headed to Plattsburgh this fall.  Briana Delbene was 6th in the Discus and still has another year ahead of her.  Congratulations ladies!

Distance Running Camp by Coach Kosier July 7th-August 13th

  
This summer we will be revamping the website with Justin Wager as our new webmaster.  Expect lots of fun new features and more interactive media.  In the meantime, we may experience some down-time.  Please be patient as we work out all the "bugs."  GuilderlandXC.com has been a lot of fun to put together these last five years and I would like to thank the coaching staff for the freedom to meadle around a bit.  The athletes have really made this website what it is, I can't take credit for its success--thanks runners!  Long Live the Long Red Line!.    -Andrew Rickert, '97            
Lady Dutch XC Team Earns Mention in Pre-Season Poll (7/18)
The Girls XC program was mentioned as one of the top 25 teams in the State for the 2008 season.  The girls will likely be lead by the trio that includes senior Lynley Joynt, sophomore Erin Mossop, and Frosh Lea Cure. See Dan Doherty's pre-season preview

THANK YOU!!  I can't begin to express how much your generosity has touched the Kosier Family.  I appreciate all the support, financial and mental, that has been offered.  I am proud to be a part of such a remarkable program.  There is something special about Guilderland Cross Country.  I am extremely fortunate to be a part of it.  I wish there was
more that I could do, but I promise to give a little back though service over the next several years and continue to make you proud of the Long Red Line.
